Even as the roll-out of MIUI 9 is underway, Xiaomi is already getting on to prepare the next version of its custom Android OS. The company hosted an event in Beijing where co-founder and Vice President Hong Feng unveiled MIUI 10.
According to GSMArena, the main focus for MIUI 10 developers will be artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning (ML). Further details on the upcoming OS are not available, but given the focus on AI and ML, one can expect a more intuitive user experience.
With MIUI 9, the company introduced a smart assistant, helping you search for schedules, notes, and more. With the next version, we could see the assistant receiving more features with AI and ML as core technologies.
The custom Android skin is currently in its 9.1.1 stable version with the 9.2.1 beta version being rolled out to select devices. Xiaomi has listed 40 devices which will be soon receiving the latest iteration. The list of supported devices includes a majority of those which were launched in 2017, with some dating back to 2012. Xiaomi Redmi 5A was the last model to receive the update.
One of the prime features of MIUI 9 is the refined UI, split-screen mode, smart assistant. As MIUI 9 is based on Android Nougat, it borrows some features from Google’s OS. For instance, it supports dynamic resource allocation, which allows apps that require more resources gain priority by the processor.
