Xiaomi has an event tomorrow where it is expected to launch the Mi 5 and Redmi Note 2 handsets. Resting the long-running speculations and series of leaks about the possibility of the launch of two devices, the company itself posted a new teaser that all but confirms the launch of both the said handsets. The new teaser, in addition to a few more, shows two empty hands. The caption on the image reads, “___ is better than one.” The empty hands suggest that the company will be releasing two handsets, and they will be extremely thin. In another teaser, the company compared their thinness with a sheet of a paper. Also Read - Xiaomi stops software updates for Redmi Note 3, Mi 4 and more
From what we have heard so far, the Redmi Note 2, which is the successor to Redmi Note 4G, is likely to feature a 5.7-inch 1080p 2.5D display (the kind of screen that curves at the edges), 64-bit capable octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor clocked at 1.5GHz, paired with Adreno 306 GPU and 2GB of RAM. Also likely to be included are 16GB/32GB internal storage, 13-megapixel shooter with dual-tone dual-LED flash, 5-megapixel front-facing camera, and a 3,600mAh battery.
The Xiaomi Mi 5, on the other hand, will be superseding last year’s Xiaomi Mi 4 flagship smartphone. It comes with QHD screen ranging between 5.2- and 5.5-inches. On the camera front, the handset is pegged to carry either a 20-megapixel camera or a 13-megapixel sensor. For the processor, we were expecting a Snapdragon 805 or Snapdragon 810 chipset, though a recent alleged AnTuTu benchmarking score of the said handset points to Snapdragon 801 processor and 2GB of RAM.
