This time last year, Xiaomi entered India with its Mi 3 flagship in July 2014 changing the landscape of smartphone culture in the country. A year later, the company has broken many records and has now become a household brand. On July 22, Xiaomi celebrates its one-year anniversary in the country and has announced on its social media pages that they will release some great products into the market, along with week-long deals. To kickstart the celebrations, Xiaomi has released a fun video showing off the company’s brand new office. The staff basically highlights the ‘Mi’ brand and ends with a ‘Thank You’ for the phenomenal response it has received from users in India. Xiaomi introduced the concept of online flash sales in India, and really began the concept of smartphones sold close to cost. It sold 1 million units in just five months of it arrival, and seeing this phenomenal response many brands like Yu, Micromax and Lenovo followed suit aping the same model. The company started its own website in the country where it started selling accessories, fitness bands and now even the ‘made for India’ Mi 4i smartphone. India is now the biggest market for the company after its homeland China, and the company looks to even manufacture handsets in the country in the future. It has even established interest in investing in Indian startups eventually.
Xiaomi has achieved a great deal in one year, and seems to be going strong. This year, the company has a host of flagships to release, including the Mi Note, Mi Note Pro and even the Mi TV in India.
