Last month, BGR India exclusively reported about Xiaomi’s plans for India that included the launch of the Mi 3 and the Redmi. After launching the flagship device in India last week for Rs 14,999, the Chinese company has now teased the imminent launch of the entry-level smartphone on its Facebook page.
While the teaser doesn’t mention any hardware, the teaser shows two devices in the background and the Chinese company could launch the Redmi and the Redmi Note. Interestingly, July 15 is also the day the flagship Mi 3 will become available on Flipkart. The Redmi is essentially an entry-level smartphone featuring a 4.7-inch 720p IPS display, a 1.5GHz MediaTek 6589 quad-core SoC, 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage along with a microSD card slot. It comes with an 8-megapixel rear and 1.3-megapixel front-facing cameras, and it runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with Xiaomi’s MIUI V5 on top.
The Redmi Note, on the other hand, is a large 5.5-inch phablet with 720p IPS display, and it features a 1.7GHz MediaTek MT6592 octa-core processor, 1.7GB RAM, 8GB onboard storage, microSD card slot, 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front-facing camera, and a 3,100mAh battery.
The Xiaomi Mi 3, which launched last week, features a 5-inch 1080p IPS display, a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory. It comes with 13-megapixel rear camera with dual-flash, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, and a 3,050mAh battery as well.
