Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi is going to launch a new Redmi Note phablet called Hongmi Note today in China. The launch has been hinted by Xiaomi founder Lei Jun on micro blogging website Weibo, as well as Bin Lin on his Facebook page. The budget phablet is said to feature a 5.5-inch display, 4G connectivity, and a 3,100mAh battery. The phablet is also said to weigh 155 grams, which is 10 grams lighter than the Redmi Note. Xiaomi will soon launch the Redmi Note as well as the Redmi 1s in India. The phablet is priced at Rs 9,999, while the entry-level smartphone is priced at Rs 6,999. The phablet features a 5.5-inch 720p IPS display, 1.7GHz Mediatek 6592 octa-core processor, 2GB of RAM, and 8GB internal memory that can be further expanded using a microSD card. The Redmi 1s, on the other hand, features a 4.7-inch 720p IPS display, 1.6GHz Snapdragon 400 quad-core SoC, 1GB of RAM, and 4GB of internal storage that can be further expanded using a microSD card slot. Also featured are an 8-megapixel rear camera, 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, and 2,000mAh battery.
Xiaomi recently launched its flagship Mi 4 in China, which features a 5-inch full HD 1080p display, 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor, 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.
