Xiaomi to soon launch a smartphone with Snapdragon 675 SoC: Manu Kumar Jain

Qualcomm announced Snapdragon 675 earlier today at 4G/5G Summit in Hong Kong.

Following the unveiling of Qualcomm’s latest Snapdargan 675, Xiaomi has announced that it will launch a smartphone based-on the same chipset soon. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 675 mobile platform is the successor to Snapdragon 670 chipset. Qualcomm took wraps of Snapdragon 675 earlier today at the ongoing 4G/5G Summit in Hong Kong.

Xiaomi’s Global VP and Managing Director India, Manu Kumar Jain, made the announcement today at the summit. He also detailed Xiaomi’s growth journey in India market, reported Gadgets360.

According to latest Counterpoint Research report, Xiaomi has once again pipped Samsung to the top position, with a market share of 27 percent. Samsung comes in second with 23 percent, while Vivo, Micromax and Oppo make up the rest of the top five.

As for Snapdragon 675, the latest mid-range chipset from Qualcomm sits just below Snapdragon 710. It is company’s first SoC fabricated on 11nm node, and has been designed keeping camera, gaming and AI in mind. The chipset is claimed to load games 30 percent faster compared to Snapdragon 670. Also, it can perform 15 percent faster with social media apps launch time, and 35 percent faster web browsing as per Qualcomm.

The Snapdragon 675 SoC features 4th generation Kryo 460 CPU with octa-core configuration. Two of these are Cortex A76-based performance cores clocked at 2GHz, whereas the remaining six are Cortex A55-based efficiency cores clocked at 1.7GHz.

The chipset comes with 6th gen Hexagon 685 ISP with high res depth sensing, and multiple camera support. OEMs can also add camera sensors for low-light photography, portrait mode, and more. Not just that, It provides manufacturers with the ability to incorporate 5X optical zoom for the telephoto lens.
