Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 SoC has not been officially unveiled yet, but the chipset has long been anticipated to power mid-range smartphones. While nothing about the chipset has been said by Qualcomm, two Xiaomi smartphones have been recently rumored to be in pipeline. Both these rumored devices will reportedly come with Snapdragon 670 SoC under the hood. This naturally also indicates that the two upcoming Xiaomi smartphones will also be priced in the mid-range segment. This report comes from two trusted sources. Editor-in-chief of XDA Developers, Mishaal Rahman tweeted about “at least” two Xiaomi smartphones, powered by Snapdragon 670, and carrying the codename ‘sirius’ and ‘comet’. This is inline with another tip by leakster Roland Quandt, who also reveals that the Snapdragon 670’s little cluster has six cores, and the big cluster has two cores. Apart from that, there are also reports that suggest that the Snapdragon 670 will be manufactured based on the 10nm process, and will come bundled with Adreno 615 GPU. Reportedly, the chipset’s two cores will be the Kryo 300 Gold for higher performance, and the rest will be Kryo 300 Silver that will help in handling day-to-day activities. Other expected features of Snapdragon 670 SoC include an SD X20 modem and an advanced ISP with dual-camera support.
