Chinese independent company YI has finally launched its action and home cameras in India. A total of 11 YI cameras have been launched and will be available exclusively via on Amazon India. The prices start from Rs 2,990 and go up to Rs 19,990. YI is one of the many companies Xiaomi invests in and also sells their products in its physical stores. Online, YI products are primarily available in the US.
YI’s action cameras have popularly earned the reputation of the official GoPro killer. Its action cameras offer the same features as GoPro’s, but are priced dramatically lower. The available YI action cameras in India are namely YI 88012 Action Camera (Black), YI 4K Sports and Action Video Camera (Night Black), YI Action Camera with Selfie Stick & Bluetooth Remote (Black), YI 4K Sports and Action Video Camera (White Pearl), YI 4K Action Camera with Selfie Stick & Bluetooth Remote (Night Black), YI Action Camera (White), YI 4K Action Camera with Waterproof Case Night Black, and YI 4K Action Camera with Selfie Stick & Bluetooth Remote (Pearl White).
The YI home camera lineup includes YI Home Camera Wireless IP Security Surveillance System (White), YI Dome Camera Wireless IP Security Surveillance System with 720p HD Night Vision and YI Home Camera Wireless IP Security Surveillance System (Black). Speaking about the products, the best out of the lot, the YI 4K Action Camera is priced at Rs 19,990 and comes in Night Black and Pearl White colors. As the name suggests, the YI 4K Action Camera is capable of recording 4K/30fps videos at 60mbps with its 12-megapixel Sony IMX377 image sensor and aperture of f/2.8. It is powered by Ambarella A9SE75 SoC. The YI 4K Action Camera features a 2.19-inch LCD display with Corning’s Gorilla Glass protection. Its connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0. The action camera is fuelled by a 1,400mAh battery and also features dual microphone. As detailed on YI’s website, this product is compared against the older GoPro Hero 4, which is priced higher at Rs 50,270 and also lacks some features. YI is yet to launch a GoPro Hero 5 competitor.
