Xiaomi is expanding its Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem for quite some time now. After launching the Mi Washing Machine, the Mi Robot Vacuum and 8H Multifunction Pillow U1 recently, Xiaomi’s latest product is a 90 minutes Bag Pack. First spotted by Gizmochina, the 90 Minutes Bag Pack carries a price tag of CNY 179 (which is approximately Rs 1,700) and is already available via Xiaomi’s crowdfunding platform. The Bag Pack will be available in grey color only and is expected to start shipping staring December 13. As is the case with Xiaomi’s Mi ecosystem products, there is no word on whether the 90 Minutes Bag Pack would be introduced in other markets like India. It features dimensions of 395x290x160mm, and weighs 771 grams. The 90 Minutes Bag Pack is made of 100 percent Polyester fabric. The inner lining is made of polyester fiber and polyamide fibers. One of the talking points of this Bag Pack is that the entire bag is water repellent including the bottom. Looks wise, the Bag Pack comes with a front zipper which opens from the centre. The zipper slider is said to have a magnetic pull at the bottom. This will make it difficult for someone to just flip it open while it’s on your back. The Bag Pack can expand due to the presence of elastic.
In addition, Xiaomi claims that the Bag Pack can carry a 14-inch laptop. Apart from that, there is enough space to keep other stuff as well. The Bag Pack comes with protective material to cushion the gadgets from shock. There are also hidden carts which help in rolling the bag in case you feel tired carrying it on your back.
The 90 minutes Bag Pack is the second product under the ‘90 Minutes’ brand after ‘90 Minutes’ jacket. The 90 Minutes jacket comes with a windproof and water repulsive outer coating, and the inner-padding helps maintain the body temperature. The 90 Minutes Jacket is available for CNY 229, which is approximately Rs 2,200. One of the interesting things about the smart jacket is the unique YKK zipper, which the company says can be used to hold your headphone cable. The 90 Minutes jacket comes in small (S), medium (M), large (L), extra large (XL), and extra-extra large (XXL) for male, whereas, only small (S), medium (M), large (L) and extra large (XL) sizes are available for females.
Back in September Meizu too had announced the launch of its bag pack, which is made out of water-resistant canvas. It offers nine compartments that offers plenty of space to store all of your gadgets. Talking about the price, the bag pack is priced at CNY 199, which is approximately Rs 1,900 and just like Xiaomi, Meizu has also made available only the grey variant for the users. While the Meizu bag pack misses on the front zipper, it offers a 15.6-inch laptop space as compared to 14-inch laptop space of Xiaomi.
While some may find a smart jacket or Bag Pack from Xiaomi surprising, the Chinese company’s ecosystem has a bunch of such daily use products. These include the likes of Mi Washing Machine, Mi Robot Vacuum, Umbrella, Super Filter Kettle L1, and Wowstick to name a few.
Xiaomi in the meanwhile is gearing up to launch an air quality tester tomorrow in China, which should be a great companion device for those owing a Mi Air Purifier 2. Unlike the purifier, this upcoming air quality tester is expected to feature an OLED display that will show the quality of the air, connectivity and battery level. The Mi Air Purifier 2 was recently launched in India for Rs 9,999. It features a single motor with dual mixed booster fans and a three layer filter. Xiaomi says that the Mi Air Purifier 2 offers Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) of 310m3/h. Xiaomi also says that the Mi Air Purifier 2 is 11 percent quieter with lowest noise level at 30db, and 58 percent more power efficient than its predecessor.
