In line with previous rumors, Xiaomi s $65 smartphone has been spotted via a leaked photo. The smartphone’s design is quite similar to the Redmi 2. The phone was spotted by Mydrivers, and was put up on Chinese social network site Weibo.The image shows backpanel of the phone along with the LED flash and speaker grill. The traditional Mi logo is missing pointing out the fact that this phone might just be a prototype. Xiaomi s new budget offering will steer away from Qualcomm chipsets and will stick to a much pocket friendly Leadcore chipset. The $65 price tag translates to approximately Rs 4,000 and if the device is indeed launched at this price it will definitely create waves in the entry-level Android segment.Rumors suggest that this Xiaomi smartphone will support 4G LTE and will come with a 720p display.
At BGR India’s Dream 500 Million Smartphones event in December, Xiaomi’s VP of international markets, Hugo Barra had said that it won’t be possible for the company to make a sub-Rs 5,000 phone as they would have to eventually compromise on the consumer experience. This could be a China-specific smartphone.
