Xiaomi may be primarily known for its value-for-money smartphones, but the Chinese technology major’s portfolio stretches far beyond that. In fact, some of Xiaomi’s products are not even remotely related to technology. We’re talking about pens, umbrellas, and whatnot.
The company has now added a wristwatch to its diverse product range. Having the quirky name ‘TwentySeventeen Light’, the mechanical wristwatch has been launched under the ‘Youpin’ platform, according to a report by Gizmochina. It’s priced at 499 Yuan, or approximately Rs 5,300.
The ‘TwentySeventeen Light’ isn’t exactly manufactured by Xiaomi, but by Shenzhen Micro-intelligence Co. Ltd. As is the case with mechanical wristwatches, it draws its power from kinetic energy, so no batteries are needed. However, it needs to be manually wound if left unused for a while, to provide initial kinetic energy.
Xiaomi’s ‘TwentySeventeen Light’ uses a Sapphire crystal that’s both wear and scratch resistant. It’s made from a blue-coating process that prevents glare and fingerprints. The watch is available in two dial colors – white and black – and the dial has a date window as well. There are two strap colors too – black and brown. The wristwatch has an exhibition caseback, so you can see the movement in action.
The mechanical wristwatch is water-resistant up to 5ATM, which means you don’t really have to worry about a little rain or splash causing it any trouble.

Speaking of ‘unconventional’ Xioami products, the company recently launched the Mi Luggage suitcase in India. Made from German Bayer Makrolon TMPC material, the suitcase is available in two sizes – 20-inch and 24-inch – priced at Rs 2,999 and Rs 4,299, respectively.
