Xolo, a sub-brand of Lava, had announced last month that it would soon launch 4G smartphones priced between Rs 4,500 to Rs 10,000. Xolo aims to tap the growing demand for 4G LTE devices in the country following the official launch of Reliance Jio’s 4G services. Xolo had also said that starting September, it would launch one 4G smartphone every month. Keeping its promise, Xolo had launched the Era 1X for Rs 4,999 smartphone last month. Today, Xolo has launched the second 4G smartphone in its Era series, called Xolo Era 2. Priced at Rs 4,499. the Xolo Era 2 smartphone will be exclusively available on Snapdeal and the first flash sale of the smartphone will take place on October 27 at 10.00AM.
The pre-registrations for the Xolo Era 2 have begun from today and it will continue till October 26. Also on offer, is the Reliance Jio 4G Welcome offer for unlimited data along with the Xolo Era 2. The smartphone is available in three colors – Black, Nile Blue and Pyramid Gold. The Xolo Era 2 is preloaded with a couple of features like Smart Camera and Quick Camera. Smart Camera features several modes like Live Photos, Beauty Mode, Burst Mode, Time-Lapse and Slow-Motion. Quick Camera, as the name suggests, allows the user to access the camera directly by simply double tapping on the Home button. Other features of the smartphone include Audio Note, Smart Screenshot, Smart Awake, Assistant Cast Screen, LED flash for calls and flip to mute option for alarms and calls.
Xolo Era 2 specifications
The Xolo Era 2 smartphone features a 5-inch HD display. Under the hood of the smartphone runs a quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz. Xolo Era 2 comes with 1GB of RAM and onboard storage of 8GB which is further expandable up to 32GB. In the photography department, the Xolo Era 2 sports a 5-megapixel rear and front camera. The 5-megapixel rear camera is equipped with f/2.0 aperture, 4P largan lens, LED flash and Big Pixel technology (1.4 Micron Pixel). These features, the company say will make images look sharp and vivid, even in low light conditions. The front facing 5-megapixel camera also comes with LED flash. The connectivity options offered by the smartphone include dual-SIM support, 4G LTE and VoLTE support, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. The Xolo Era 2 is powered by a 2,350mAh battery. On the software front, the smartphone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
While Xolo is targeting users in the tier II and tier III cities with entry-level 4G smartphones, Reliance through its Reliance Digital has launched a slew of LYF-branded 4G VoLTE enabled smartphones, starting from as low as Rs 2,999. Needless to say, the Xolo Era 2 will be giving good competition to smartphones like Reliance LYF Wind 6, Intex Aqua Raze II and Alcatel Pixi 4. The Reliance LYF Wind 6, priced at Rs 4,999, features a 5-inch FWVGA IPS display. Under the hood of the smartphone, runs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon quad-core processor clocked at 1.1GHz. The smartphone comes with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of onboard storage which is further expandable up to 32GB. The Reliance LYF Wind 6 sports a 5-megapixel rear and selfie camera with auto focus and LED flash. The smartphone is powered by a 2,250mAh battery. On the software front, the smartphone runs on Android Lollipop 5.1. The smartphone comes with 4G VoLTE support.
Priced at Rs 4,490, the Intex Aqua Raze II features a 4.5-inch FWVGA TN display. Under the hood of the smartphone runs a quad-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz. The smartphone comes with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of onboard storage, which is further expandable up to 32GB. The Intex Aqua Raze II sports a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel selfie camera. On the software front, the smartphone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. It is powered by a 1,750mAh battery. One thing to be noted however is that the Intex Aqua Raze II has 4G LTE support but not VoLTE support.
The third smartphone in line is the Alcatel Pixi 4, priced at Rs 4,999. It features a 5-inch FWVGA TFT display. Under the hood, runs a quad-core MediaTek processor clocked at 1GHz. The smartphone comes with 1GB of RAM and 8GB onboard storage which is further expandable up to 32GB. The Alcatel Pixi 4 sports an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel selfie camera. On the software front, the smartphone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Furthermore, it is powered by a 2,000mAh battery. Just like the Intex Aqua Raze II, the Alcatel Pixi 4 also has only 4G LTE support and not VoLTE support.
