Xolo, the sub-brand of Lava, has sent out media invites for an event on January 5 where it is going to launch a new smartphone. Called the Xolo Era 2X, the smartphone is believed to be successor to the Xolo Era 1X. The press invite doesn’t reveal a lot but hints that the smartphone will come with Tap to Unlock feature. The Xolo Era 2X is expected to be avaiable exlusively via Flipkart.
The Xolo Era 1X had launched in September last year with a price tag of Rs 4,999. The smartphone sports a 5-inch HD IPS display with 294ppi pixel density. It is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor with 1GB of RAM. The smartphone comes with 8GB of onboard storage, which can be expanded up to 32GB using a microSD card.
For photography, the Era 1X sports an 8-megapixel rear auto-focus camera with LED flash, and a 5-megapixel selfie camera with dual-LED flash. The camera features different modes like Slow Motion Video and Live Photos that lets you capture 15 frames of images at one go, Time-Lapse Video and Beauty Mode as well. Armed with 2,500mAh removable battery, the company claims that the it is good enough to up-to 22 hours of talk time and up-to 185 hours of standby time. Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots, 4G VoLTE support, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. On the software front, the smartphone runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0.
The Xolo Era 1X competes against a range of under-Rs 5,000 Android smartphones. And just like the predecessor, the Xolo Era 2X is expected to target the same price bracket, and compete against the likes of LYF Wind 7, Micromax Unite 3 and Honor Holly among others.
