Xolo today launched the third variant of its Q1000 smartphone, this time tying up with Broadcom for the chipset for the Q1000 Opus. Earlier, Xolo had launched the Q1000 with MediaTek 6589 quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz, following it up with the Q1000s that had the MediaTek 6589T chipset with a quad-core processor ticking at 1.5GHz. Xolo will launch the Q1000 Opus at the end of this month.

Talking of the key specifications, the Q1000 Opus will come with a 5-inch HD (720p) display, which was also seen on the Xolo Q1000. It will be powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core ARM Cortex A7 Broadcom chipset which comes with support to stream content on a bigger display via Miracast, which is one of the differentiators with the Q1000.

The rest of the features on the Xolo Q1000 Opus appear the same as the Xolo Q1000, which include Android 4.2 Jelly Bean on board, an 8-megapixel rear and 1.2-megapixel front-facing cameras, 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory with external memory support. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS/AGPS, and 3G HSPA+ network.

Xolo is essentially partnering with every major chipset provider including Nvidia and Intel for its smartphone portfolio apart from MediaTek and now Broadcom. What Xolo needs is some significant feature differentiation in its product portfolio rather than the chipset differentiation it is doing with the Q1000 as it does not mean much to consumers.
