Yahoo has been in recent times described as a big company, but some believe it is becoming stale with a need to tempt a younger audience to the site. Ever since Mayer took over as the CEO, she has been pushing the company’s mobile platform, which is considered as a platform largely used by the youth, by acquiring smaller companies like Summly, Snip.it and Astrid among others.
By acquiring Tumblr, Yahoo will get a huge boost as the social blogging site is a place where young creative professionals virtually congregate. It would also be a boost for Yahoo’s advertising business, with Tumblr viewed as a perfect platform for brand advertising.
The report further mentions that the deal would do Tumblr a whole lot of good in terms of revenues.
