Amidst all the turmoil, Yahoo has unveiled an innovative web browser for iOS devices. Axis is a new search focussed iOS browser that provides live search results in a thumbnail web page previews and user data, rather than the standard list. Yahoo is also offering Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari and Internet Explorer plugins for Axis. However, Yahoo has pulled out the Chrome extension after security vulnerabilities we’re found. The iOS app is an universal app and it works both on the iPhone and the iPad. While doing so, the app provides the same set of features as Safari on iOS, with the exception of it having a new type of user interface which puts search at the forefront. Notably, the app is powered by the webkit engine developed by Apple for Safari. While app is available as a free download, we are yet to see it on the Indian App Store, which basically means anyone with an Indian account cannot download the app as of now. We shall update the post as soon as the app is available in India.
