We had almost forgotten about the YotaPhone before it hit the rumor mills earlier this year. Since the beginning, we have been hearing about the company’s plans to launch the YotaPhone 3 – successor to the YotaPhone 2. Now, the smartphone has finally launched in China. It will be up for pre-orders starting September 5 on Chinese retailer website JD.com and will be up for sale on September 18. The YotaPhone 3 will be available in two storage variants – 64GB model priced at RMB 2,398 (Rs 23,00 approximately) and 128GB model priced at RMB 3,098 (Rs 29,700 approximately). Both the variants feature 4GB of RAM. USP of the phone remains its secondary display. The phone features a 5.2-inch e-ink display at its back with three capacitive keys for navigation.
As far as the rest of the specifications are concerned, the front is equipped with a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The smartphone also features a fingerprint scanner on the front. Under the hood, it is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC. Armed with a 3,300mAh battery, the smartphone comes with a reversible USB Type-C connector. On the software front, it runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box with Yota OS 3.0 on top. On the connectivity front, the phone supports A-GPS with GLONASS, 3.5 mm connector, Bluetooth and WiFi (a/b/g/n). In terms of camera, the YotaPhone 3 features a 13-megapixel rear auto focus camera with a dual tone LED flash and a 12-megapixel front camera. In India, Yota skipped the launch of YotaPhone 2. The last phone that was launched by the company was the YotaPhone back in 2014 for Rs 23,499. The YotaPhone 3 smartphone is said to launch in Russia next, followed by other markets. There is, however, no word on when this smartphone will be launched in India.
