YU, the sub-brand of Micromax, is making a comeback in the market with its latest smartphone offering, the YU Ace. The company started teasing the launch about a week back, and has also sent out media invitations for a launch event on August 30 (tomorrow).
As previously reported, the company had not revealed any information about what it was planning to launch at the event. It only left us with a cryptic teaser that showed an image of two battery-shaped hour-glasses with the text “F(ACE) OFF!” written above and the text “Coming soon!” written below the image. Almost a day after the teaser, a new leak has surfaced online showing what the upcoming device will look like.

The image shared by AndroidPure is claimed to be a render of the YU Ace with a “Full view” or “Full-screen” display with what looks like an 18:9 screen aspect ratio and thin bezels. The most interesting part here is that there is no notch seen, though the smartphone does seem to have thick bezels both on the top as well as the bottom. However, an 18:9 aspect ratio with no notch is a welcome break from all the other smartphones in the market.
YU is likely to be planning to take the fight to its competition including the likes of Xiaomi, Honor, and Huawei with the absence of the notch. However, the company will need to ensure that there are no half measures, and that the device packs a punch in terms of hardware wrapped around in an impressive design at an affordable price.
