Last month, BGR India exclusively reported about Yu s plans to launch a smartphone codenamed Project Caesar. Before it launches the smartphone sometime this quarter, the company is crowd-sourcing ideas to name its next flagship. For this purpose, Yu has started a contest called #YuNameIt on social media platforms inviting tech enthusiasts to participate, and christen a name for its Project Caesar smartphone. The contest is already underway on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Yu’s forums page. The contest ends today, and the rewards are five Project Caesar smartphones up for grabs, plus Amazon Gift Cards worth Rs 1 lakh. Also Read - Amazon School from Home store live in India: What's new
The company will select the top-five names out of the lot that comes in, and then put them up for vote on April 3 and April 4. The one that gets the most amount of votes, will then be the official name of the next Yu smartphone.
The leaked specs of the upcoming smartphone points to a 64-bit processor paired with 2GB of RAM. Additionally, it will also come with 16GB of built-in memory, and run on Cyanogen OS 12 based on Android Lollipop out-of-the-box.
Meanwhile, Yu is also conducting its weekly sale of the Yureka today. The device is priced at Rs 8,999 and boats of a 5.5-inch HD IPS display, Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB expandable storage, 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front-facing camera, and a 2,500mAh battery. On the software front, it runs on Cyanogen OS 11 based on Android KitKat.
