Micromax s sub-brand YU had launched its new flagship smartphone, YU Yunicorn, in India on May 31. It has been launched at an introductory price of Rs 12,999 for a month, after which the price will go up to Rs 13,499. The smartphone will go on its first flash sale tomorrow at 2PM exclusively on Flipkart. The smartphone will be available in offline stores later. Registrations for the YU Yunicorn have already begun and it will go on until 1PM tomorrow. The flash sale also has three offers lined up for its buyers. The offers include 10 percent cashback on SBI cards, six months Gaana+ subscription for free, and a cash amount of Rs 400 in your YU wallet.
Yu Yunicorn specifications and features: The smartphone comes with a 5.5-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) IPS 2.5D curved glass display and 401ppi. It is powered by a 1.8GHz MediaTek Helio P10 octa-core processor paired with 4GB of LPDDR3 RAM. It has an internal storage of 32GB, which is further expandable up to 128GB.
The Yunicorn is equipped with a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/2.2 aperture and PDAF, and a 5-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture. The smartphone is backed by a 4,000mAh battery, and also features connectivity options like 4G LTE support, USB Type-C port, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS.
The Yunicorn runs on a close to stock Android Lollipop which they have named as Android on Steroids . While this is based on Android Lollipop, the company has promised that the Marshmallow update will be rolled out in a few weeks. The Yunicorn is also bundled with the Around YU 2.0 service, which offers users access to various services through a single platform. This software also comes with a built-in digital wallet called Udio.
