Micromax-backed YU recently launched the Yureka Black in India priced at Rs 8,999. Late last year, the company had launched the entry-level Yunique Plus smartphone, which was an upgraded version of of the YU Yunique. Now, YU looks all set to launch the smartphone s successor, the Yunique 2, soon. While the retail box of the smartphone has been leaked, BGR India has also learned that the smartphone is set to launch in India on Monday, July 24. The leaked retail box confirms the smartphone name, and the front panel design. The front is dominated by the display, but there is no word on the screen size. Just above the display, you have the earpiece, front camera and proximity sensor. The capacitive Android navigation keys are likely to be below the display, but they aren t quite visible. Also, a metal rim seems to be running around the edges. Considering affordable smartphones also come with metallic panels these days, we wouldn t be surprised to see the same on the YU Yunique 2. Now, while there is no word on the specifications yet, two new YU smartphones with model number YU5011 and YU5012 were recently spotted on GeekBench benchmark listing. It is possible that these could be the variants of the Yunique 2. The listing reveals that both smartphones are powered by MediaTek s MT6737 quad-core SoC clocked at 1.2GHz, and runs on Android 7.0 Nougat OS. Also, the YU5011 features 2GB of RAM, whereas the YU5012 is revealed with 3GB of RAM. Rest of the specifications such as camera details, internal storage, display size and resolution are a mystery for now.
YU Yunique Plus specifications and features
To recap, the YU Yunique Plus features a 4.7-inch display running at HD (720p) resolution and covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It is powered by Qualcomm s 64-bit Snapdragon 410 quad-core SoC clocked at 1.2GHz paired with 2GB of RAM and Adreno 306 GPU. With 8GB on internal storage, a microSD card slot for further expansion is also present. On the photography front, the YU Yunique Plus sports an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, and a 2-megapixel front camera. The smartphone runs on stock Android Lollipop 5.1 out-of-the-box, which is quite outdated now. Armed with a 2,000mAh battery, connectivity options include dual-SIM with dual 4G support, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.
