YU Yunique Plus with Snapdragon 410 processor, 2GB of RAM launched, priced at Rs 6,999: Specifications, features

YU has followed up its last year's Yunique smartphone with the Yunique Plus. Priced at Rs 6,999, the Yunique Plus has same set of specifications of its predecessor, except for 1GB more RAM. While the Yunique Plus comes with 2GB of RAM, the predecessor had 1GB of RAM. Rest of the specifications and features remain unchanged.

Along with the Yureka S, YU has also launched the Yunique Plus smartphone in India. While the Yureka S is priced at Rs 12,999, the Yunique Plus is available for Rs 6,999. The Yunique Plus is successor to the YU Yunique, which was launched in September last year for Rs 4,999. The Yunique Plus has similar set of specifications and features of the Yunique except that it has 1GB extra RAM. Interestingly, YU is charging Rs 2,000 more for the RAM upgrade.

Along with the specifications, the YU Yunique Plus comes with similar design language of its predecessor. The Yunique Plus also features Saturn Rings around the camera lens on the back and the three-element key set up on the side edge. Also, the smartphone is same 8.3mm slim and weighs 128 grams. The Yunique Plus is available in black color option. YU has moved on from keeping its smartphones exclusively online to shifting them to retail stores.

To begin with, the YU Yunique Plus features a 4.7-inch HD display with Gorilla Glass 3 protection Under its hood runs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 quad-core 64-bit processor clocked at 1.2GHz along with Adreno 306 GPU. The only difference and improvement is that the 2GB RAM as opposed to the 1GB RAM available in YU Yunique.

The smartphone offers 8GB of internal storage, which is further expandable up to 32GB via microSD card. On the photography front, the YU Yunique Plus sports an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, auto-focus and f/2.0 aperture. The 2-megapixel selfie camera comes with front-focus and 83 degree wide angle. The smartphone runs on stock Android Lollipop 5.1 out-of-the-box. It is powered by a 2,000mAh battery, which is claimed to provide up to seven hours of talktime on 3G, 12.5 hours of music playback, up to six hours of video playback and standby time of up to 345 hours. As far as the competition goes, the YU Yunique Plus will be taking on the likes of Xiaomi Redmi 3S and Coolpad Note 3 Lite. The Xiaomi Redmi 3S, priced at Rs 6,999, offers a bigger 5-inch HD display. It runs Android 6.0.1 based MIUI 7 and is powered by Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor along with 2GB of RAM. It comes with a 13-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front camera. The Xiaomi Redmi 3S edges out the Yunique Plus with a larger 4,100 mAh battery. In addition, the smartphone also comes with 4G VoLTE support, which the Yunique Plus doesn’t offer.

Another competitor is the Coolpad Note 3 Lite. Priced at Rs 6,999, this smartphone also offers a 5-inch HD display. It runs MediaTek 64-bit quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz and has 3GB of RAM. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with CoolUI 6.0 on top. It comes with 16GB internal storage, which is expandable up to 32GB via microSD. It is powered by a 2,500mAh battery. For the Coolpad Note 3 Lite, the main USP is fingerprint scanner, which neither the Yunique Plus nor the Redmi 3s offer. Besides the Coolpad Note 3 Lite and Xiaomi Redmi 3S, the YU Yunique Plus will also take on the Coolpad Mega 2.5D, which comes with a bigger 5.5-inch HD display. It comes with 3GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage. It has an 8-megapixel selfie camera. The smartphone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow based on Cool UI 8.0, and is powered by a 2,500mAh battery. The Coolpad Mega 2.5D is also priced at Rs 6,999.
