BGR India had exclusively reported that Micromax-backed YU is all set to launch a flagship smartphone called Yutopia. The report was later confirmed by the company’s founder Rahul Sharma. Now, the company has started taking registrations on its website. BGR India had reported that the Yutopia would launch in October.
YU is trumpeting the Yutopia would be the world’s most powerful smartphone, which sounds very similar to the hype created by OnePlus for its latest flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 2, which it claimed was the 2016 flagship killer.
YU Yutopia specifications and features: Based on the leaked benchmarks that we’ve earlier come across, the smartphone could sport a 5.2-inch display (either a 1080p or 2K display). It is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 chipset paired with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.
On the camera part, it is expected to sport a 21-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. Connectivity options such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11ac and GPS are also expected to be present. It is expected to run on CyanogenMod 12 OS based on Android 5.1 Lollipop.
There is no word on the pricing yet, but the Yutopia would be the first high-end flagship smartphone from YU and will be the first to be priced above Rs 10,000. However, it remains to be seen whether YU would be able to price it at par with the OnePlus 2.
