Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL) has announced its own over-the-top video streaming platform called ZEE5. The platform is a brand new digital entertainment platform for Zee’s entertainment division. In a released statement, Zee says the new ZEE5 OTT platform will serve as a one-stop destination for ZEE Entertainment, which is one of the global media and entertainment powerhouse. ZEE5 will offer the best of original programming including Indian and International movies, as well as TV shows. The ZEE5 app is available for Android and iOS devices, Android TV, Amazon Fire TV Stick and Chromecast. It is also available at www.zee5.com and as a Progressive Web App (PWA).

Zee says its ZEE5 app offers 1,00,000 hours of On Demand content including exclusive originals, movies, TV shows, music, health and lifestyle content. It will also have a Live TV offering with 90+ popular Live TV channels. The app supports 12 languages including English, Hindi, Bengali, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Marathi, Oriya, Bhojpuri, Gujarati and Punjabi, which will make it accessible across the country.
The service also offers Voice Search functionality and will rival OTT platforms such as Netflix, Hotstar and Amazon Prime Video. The app relies on a freemium model where both free and paid content will reside. The paid content will be available to those subscribing to the ZEE5 subscription pack priced at a special launch price of Rs 99 per month. The actual monthly pack will be priced at Rs 150.
