Feature phones supporting features like Wi-Fi and 4G have been the talk in India for some time now and finally, we have a feature phone support Wi-Fi. Ziox Mobiles, a local feature phone manufacturer, has announced the Ziox S333 Wi-Fi feature phone and as the name suggests, the device supports Wi-Fi connectivity. However, the feature phone does not support the one function that has been much talked about – 4G. The announcement from Ziox comes right before Reliance Jio is expected to announce a Reliance 4G feature phone. The feature phone is a dual-SIM device that comes with a dedicated Wi-Fi button. The design is nothing different from a regular feature phone. The phone is priced at Rs 1,993 in India, making it extremely competitive. The Ziox S333 Wi-Fi comes in just one color variant – black with gold highlights. The runs on the Java platform and claims that it comes with a ‘3D experience’ interface that makes using the device slightly different from other feature phones in the market. The Ziox S333 Wi-Fi comes with a 2.4-inch color display. Under the display is the physical numeric keypad. Right in the center is the large circular key connecting directly to Wi-Fi. On the sides are the menu keys and the regular alpha-numeric keys below. The feature phone supports multiple languages and comes with functionalities like a torch. The phone comes with a basic VGA rear camera and supports MicroSD card slot with expansion up to 32GB. Ziox S333 Wi-Fi supports 2G/3G services if Wi-Fi is not available. Some of the other features supported by the feature phone include FM radio with recording, SOS, privacy lock, call recording, and some more. The feature phone comes with a 1,750mAh battery with a Power Saving Mode. There are a total of nine languages are supported by the feature phone. The feature phone market continues to be strong in India even as the smartphone segment is booming. Many manufacturers are now looking at introducing newer feature phones with more advanced features. Reliance Jio has been looking at introducing a new feature phone with 4G capabilities in the market. Apart from the 4G features, the phone will also come with its own market place and will support messenger apps as well as social media apps. The phone is expected to arrive as soon as this month or latest by August.
