Zomato did not want to overload its base app with too many features, which it felt would possibly slow it down. Therefore, the company claims that launching a separate standalone Zomato Order app was necessary for seamless navigation and quick results.
The app was initially rolled out for iOS and Android users, but Zomato has now also launched the Windows Phone app as well, effectively catering to more users. The app allows you to pick the food items you want to order and confirm the delivery address in a few taps. There is also an Order Status page, that lets you know where your delivery has reached. The company has also introduced a payments page, which is currently inactive indicating that online payments options are coming soon.
Zomato is working on other standalone apps as well, including Zomato Book, which will allow you to book a table in a restaurant via the app.
