Zomato is the one of the most popular apps to find restaurants to go to or order food from in India, thanks to its huge network of partner restaurants. Today the company is announcing the launch of Zomato Piggybank, which is a new reward points program for its loyal users. The company states that the new membership is not only focused on rewarding its loyal customers, but it will also help give back to the society through a partnered donation scheme.
Zomato Piggybank works in a simple way. Every time you order food using Zomato, 10 percent of your order value will be credited back to you as Z Coins into your Zomato Piggybank. You can further use 10 percent of that value on your next order for a discount, even if the order is placed at a different restaurant. Additionally, you also earn more Z Coins in your Piggybank even if you part-pay with Piggybank coins on a particular order.
At the moment, Zomato Piggybank will be rolling out to a select 10,000 users on the Android app, based on their loyalty and geographic availability of partner restaurants. As a joining bonus, these users will be given 200 Z coins which are worth Rs 200.
Zomato plans on extending the membership program to other loyal users across India in the next two weeks, as it is also looking to ramp up its partner network for Piggybank. The loyal customers in question here are the ones that place more than 5 orders a month. Notably, Gold users will also be getting early access to Piggybank.
Users who are not a part of the launch invitation can get access to the membership by being referred by someone who already has Piggybank. If you are a part of the invitation list, you will see the Piggybank option on the app, after the membership rolls out in your locality. Zomato plans on converting it into a paid subscription program, which will be available at Rs 299 per year, in the next two months.

Coming to doing good for society, Zomato claims that every time you order food using your Piggybank, the company will be donating Rs 1 on your behalf to Akshaya Patra Foundation, which is the world’s largest NGO running mid-day meal programs for children. Zomato states that if all orders were placed using Piggybank points, then it would amount to a donation of 1.25 crore rupees in a month. That could help changes the lives of millions of children in our country.
