ZTE has also made its presence at the ongoing Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 in Barcelona, with the launch of two mid-range smartphones called the Blade V8 Mini and the Blade V8 Lite and the highly anticipated Gigabit Phone. While the ZTE Gigabit Phone boasts of offering download speeds over ten times than LTE smartphones, the ZTE Blade V8 Mini features a set of dual cameras on the back. ZTE hasn’t revealed the pricing details for the smartphones but has announced the availability details. The Blade V8 Mini will be available across markets in Asia Pacific and Europe. The ZTE Blade V8 Lite on the other hand will be available in countries like Italy, Germany, and Spain. The ZTE Gigabit Phone is touted as a “forward looking phone” and is not aimed for retail.
The ZTE Blade V8 Mini and Blade V8 Lite are targeted at the youth as it comes with “features for young people.” In terms of design, both the smartphones come with a metallic chassis. Both the smartphones feature a fingerprint sensor which is placed on the back just below the camera lens.
Coming to the highlight of the launch, the ZTE Blade V8 Mini’s set of dual cameras on the back. The pair of 13-megapixel and 2-megapixel sensors comes with f/1.0 aperture and f/8.0 aperture. The dual cameras on the ZTE Blade V8 Mini come with a refocus mode allowing one to select the focus area after the photo is captured, thereby creating the bokeh effect. What was once exclusive to DSLR cameras, has now become a growing popularity among smartphones today.
The cameras on the smartphone are also capable of 3D shooting, a manual mode, auto HDR, and a multiple camera mode. Up front, the ZTE Blade V8 Mini houses a fixed-focus 5-megapixel selfie camera. The ZTE Blade V8 Lite however, does not come with a dual set of cameras.
ZTE Blade V8 Mini specifications
The ZTE Blade V8 Mini features a 5-inch HD display along with 2.5D curved glass. At the core of the smartphone, it runs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 435 octa-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz. The smartphone comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage with the option to expand it via a microSD card. The smartphone is powered by a 2,800mAh non-removable battery. On the software front, the Blade V8 Mini runs on Android 7.0 Nougat wrapped under ZTE’s custom Mifavor 4.2 UI on top.
ZTE Blade V8 Lite specifications
The ZTE Blade V8 Lite smartphone features a 5-inch HD display and measures 143.5x71x8mm. At the core of the smartphone, it runs a MediaTek MT6750 octa-core processor. In terms of memory, the smartphone comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage which is further expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card. In the photography department, the smartphone sports an 8-megapixel rear camera. Up front, the ZTE Blade V8 Lite houses a 5-megapixel selfie camera.
For power, the smartphone uses a 2,500mAh non-removable battery. On the software front, the ZTE Blade V8 Lite runs on Android 7.0 Nougat along with ZTE’s custom Mifavor 4.2 UI on top.
ZTE Gigabit Phone specifications
Under the hood of the smartphone, runs Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 chipset with an integrated Snapdragon X16 LTE Modem. This further brings 4×4 MIMO antenna technology and 256-QM modulation making it capable to achieve massive download speeds of 1 Gbps. The Gigabit Phone is said to process data three times faster than the other LTE devices when tested on the same network. The promised 1Gbps of internet speed on the Gigabit Phone is said to allow 360-degree VR, instant cloud storage and streaming of HQ music and videos. The smartphone also uses ZTE’s independently developed Pre5G Giga+ MBB solution.
