ZTE is all set to unveil a new smartphone under its sub-brand nubia at an event on March 21 in China. A teaser on Weibo for the said event suggested a dual-camera setup for the nubia smartphone making it the first for the brand. The smartphone in question is dubbed nubia Z17 mini and is said to be successor to the Z11 mini. The nubia Z17 mini has been spotted on Chinese website Weibo revealing its specifications. An alleged image of the nubia Z17 mini has also been leaked on Weibo revealing the front panel of the smartphone. Spotted by PlayfulDroid, the nubia Z17 mini is shown in white color with thin size bezels. The pill-shaped Home button is placed below the display which is expected to double as a fingerprint scanner. This would make the Z17 mini the first nubia smartphone to feature a fingerprint scanner on the front.
Another first for nubia would be the dual-camera setup on the Z17 mini which is rumored to be a pair of 13-megapixel Sony IMX258 sensors on the rear end. Up front, the smartphone is said to house a 16-megapixel selfie camera. The highlight of the nubia Z11 mini was its NeoVision 5.8 DSLR-level photography system packed in its 16-megapixel Sony IMX298 rear sensors. Looks like nubia is continuing its focus on the camera with the nubia Z17 mini as well.

As for the remaining specifications, the nubia Z17 mini is rumored to feature a 5.2-inch full HD display. The smartphone will be launched in two variants depending on the RAM and processor as well. One of the nubia Z17 mini smartphones will come with 4GB of RAM and will be powered by Qualcomm s Snapdragon 652 chipset under its hood. The higher variant will come with 6GB of RAM and will run Qualcomm s Snapdragon 653 chipset. These two variants of the nubia Z17 mini smartphone will be available in black and gold color. It is also said that there will be another variant with 4GB of RAM and Snapdragon 653 chipset which would be available in blue color. In addition to this, the smartphone will come with 64GB of onboard storage.
In terms of connectivity, the nubia Z17 mini smartphone is expected to come with a USB Type-C port, 3,000mAh battery with support for Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0. There is a pricing suggestion as well for the nubia Z17 mini with 4GB RAM and Snapdragon 652 chipset, which is RMB 1,899 (Rs 18,000 approximately).
Tracing back to its predecessor, the nubia Z11 mini featured a 5-inch full HD display with 2.5D Arc Glass design, octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor paired with 3GB of RAM. The smartphone came with 32GB onboard storage with an expansion option via microSD card up to 200GB. The smartphone also housed an 8-megapixel selfie camera with LED flash, PDAF, and 3D noise reduction. Connectivity options on the nubia Z11 mini included dual-SIM support, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. On the software front, the smartphone ran on Android 5.1 Lollipop.
