ZTE is gearing up to enter the wearable device segment by launching smartwatches by early next year, Financial Times reports. He Shiyou, executive vice-president and head of the handset business, ZTE has told the publication that the company is investing in the R&D of their wearable tech which will include smartwatches as well as smart glasses. However, while they plan to launch the smartwatch by early next year, the company will take longer to develop and launch their smart glasses.
Currently, Sony already has a couple of smartwatches in the market, while brands like Samsung and Qualcomm too have recently marked an entry in to this segment. Besides these, other major brands like Apple, Microsoft, Google and others are also working on their wearable devices. And now with ZTE too working on their smart devices, the competition in this market is expected to intensify further.
