Lenovo-owned ZUK is all set to launch its upcoming smartphone, ZUK Edge, as early as next week which has also been confirmed by ZUK s CEO Chang Cheng. The ZUK Edge was earlier speculated to come with a dual-edge curved display but leaked renders showed no sign to this rumor. The smartphone has already been certified by TENAA and has been subjected to numerous leaks online. Just recently, live images of the ZUK Edge had surfaced online giving a full preview of what the smartphone could look like. A new high-resolution render of the ZUK Edge has been spotted online, in the white and gold color combination as rumored previously. As spotted by GSMArena, the new high-resolution render of the ZUK Edge is a clearer portrayal of the smartphone, although it shows only the front panel. In line with the previously leaked images, the image shows the ZUK Edge sporting a white color with a combination of gold. Looking at the image, the front camera lens can be spotted above the display. The Home button is located below the display which is bordered with gold rims. The gold lining is seen surrounding the smartphone on the sides as well. The Power button along with volume rocker is located on the right side of the smartphone and in gold color. Two small antenna bands can also be seen on the top and bottom edges of the smartphone as seen in previous images. Other than that, the image confirms that the ZUK Edge will not feature a dual-edge curved display. However, the smartphone does sport a large display with very thin bezels.
Lenovo ZUK Edge specifications
As mentioned earlier, the smartphone has been subjected to leaks, which have revealed its expected specifications. The TENAA certification also sheds light on what to expect from the smartphone. Accumulating the leaks and rumors about the ZUK Edge, we can expect the smartphone to feature a 5.5-inch full HD display. Under the hood of the smartphone, Qualcomm s Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor clocked at 2.35GHz paired with Adreno 530 GPU is expected to run. The smartphone is expected to come with 4GB of RAM, and onboard storage of 64GB. There have been reports which suggest that the ZUK Edge will not come with the option of expanding the storage.
In the photography department, the ZUK Edge smartphone is expected to sport a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash. Up front, an 8-megapixel selfie camera is expected. For power, the smartphone could use a 3,000mAh battery. In terms of connectivity, the ZUK Edge could come with options like Bluetooth, GPS, 4G LTE with VoLTE support and Wi-Fi 802.11ac. The smartphone will weigh around 160 grams and will be 7.68mm thick. On the software front, the smartphone could run Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box.
The company hasn t revealed a specific launch date for the ZUK Edge smartphone but we can expect one soon. It had already been rumored that the smartphone would launch before the end of the year. Although the smartphone would be launched in China first, there are reports which suggest that it will hit global markets in the first three months of 2017. But we would have to wait for an official confirmation for that. The ZUK Edge would be the fourth smartphone under the ZUK series after ZUK Z1, ZUK Z2 and ZUK Z2 Pro.
