Chrome on iOS gets new features: Google Password Manager, Chrome Actions and more

Google has rolled out a massive update to the Chrome app on iPhones and iPads. This update includes a host of new features from password manager and Chrome actions to the ability to sync tabs and bookmarks across devices. Here are all the features that you need to check out.

Stronger protections

Chrome for iOS is getting Enhanced Safe Browsing that will give users more proactive and tailored protections from phishing, malware and other web-based threats. On turning on Enhanced Safe Browsing on iPhone or iPad, Chrome will predict and warn users proactively if web pages are dangerous by sending information about them to Google Safe Browsing to be checked. Google also said that when a user types their credentials into a website, Chrome will warn them if their username and password have been compromised in a third-party data breach. It will then suggest users to change them everywhere.

Fill in passwords

Google is also bringing Password Manager into Chrome on iOS that will enable users to set it up as their Autofill provider. This would allow Chrome to help users to quickly and securely create, store and fill in their passwords into any website or app on their iPhones and iPads.

Pick up where you left off

Google also said that it is making it easier for users to discover new content or start a fresh search in Chrome for iOS when they have been away for a while. Users will still be able to find their recent tabs. However, the company is also making it easier to browse content, start a new Search or easily get back to their most frequently visited sites. This feature will also be available on Android soon.

Translate websites

Another feature coming to Chrome on iOS will help iPhone and iPad users translate websites faster. The company said that it is using on-device machine learning to make website translations faster and more efficient. “In particular, we are launching an updated language identification model to accurately figure out the language of the page you’re visiting, and whether it needs to be translated to match your preferences,” the company wrote in a blog post.

Chrome Actions

Lastly, Google will roll out Chrome Actions on iOS to help users get more things done quickly from the Chrome address bar. The Chrome address bar will also predict when users could benefit from a Chrome Action based on the words that they have been typed. Chrome Actions will also make it faster to do common activities on Chrome for iOS such as clear browsing data, and open incognito tab.
