Tata Nexon has once again topped the SUV sales chart in July. Tata sold 14,214 units of the Nexon in July. In comparison, Tata sold 14,295 units in June. The Tata Nexon is powered by a 1.2-litre inline four cylinder petrol engine producing 108bhp/170Nm while the diesel is a new 1.5-litre unit producing 108bhp/260Nm. Both engines are offered only with a six-speed manual transmission. Tata is already working on the AMT options and should offer them in the first quarter of 2018. The Tata Nexon competes against the likes of the Ford Ecosport, the Honda WR-V and the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. Also included in the competition are the Mahindra TUV300 and the erstwhile Nuvosport.
Hyundai has sold 12,625 units of Creta in July. In the last few months Creta has definitely given a close fight to the Nexon. The Hyundai Creta has broken into the top 5 list this year. The Hyundai Creta SUV may be an expensive vehicle but that isn’t stopping Indian buyers from purchasing it. Creta sold a staggering 13,790 units in the month of June. This is equal to the total number of sales of even Alto, which is an entry-level hatchback. Hyundai Creta is leading one of the most competitive SUV segments in the country.
