Design

All three models carry a design unique in their own way. While the OnePlus and iQOO flagship somewhat resembles in terms of form factor and camera island, the Galaxy S22 Plus flaunts a compact design that makes it easier for one-handed use. The iQoo 9 Pro gets splash and dust resistance, and Panda Glass protection on top. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S-series phone and the OnePlus premium device get Gorilla Glass Victus (Victus on the Samsung flagship) added protection.

Display

Samsung is the pioneer in delivering the best display in the smartphone market and the new Galaxy S22 Plus gets a similar sweet treatment. The phone gets a vibrant Dynamic AMOLED 2x screen that offers good outdoor visibility. As for the OnePlus and iQOO smartphones, both win in this aspect by a narrow margin. The curved displays make it a delightful experience while throttling games or consuming content.

Camera

In terms of photography experience, the OnePlus 10 Pro is on par with the iQOO flagship. While the three smartphones render images with good colour and dynamic range, the S22 Plus shows camera prowess when it comes to zoom shots. The OnePlus smartphone, however, struggles on this front. Speaking of the iQOO 9 Pro, the optical stabilization helps in getting a smooth shot even when you jitter. However, the images appear to shift to a cooler tone rather than sticking to an accurate tone.

Processor, software

All three flagships boast the powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. While the premium silicon promises smooth performance throughout without any hiccup, during our usage we faced minor heating issues with the Samsung unit. But overall, multitasking was a breeze on all three devices. As for the software, each device offers Android 12 OS with their respective proprietary skin on top. While the OnePlus 10 Pro provides a clean interface close to stock Android, the Galaxy S22 Plus offers a near similar experience courtesy of the One UI 4.1 interface. iQOO 9 Pro misses a few points in this aspect, although it is worthy of exploring a new UI if you are willing to sail on a different boat.

Battery

Out of the three, the Galaxy S22 Plus gets a smaller battery pack and lower charging speed. While the handset ticks most boxes, it misses out on this front. The iQOO 9 Pro also bags a decent battery backup but at least you get 50W fast charging support. As for the OnePlus 10 Pro, it is a clear winner when it comes to the bigger battery pack and faster charging solution. Unlike the other two, the new flagship offers a 5,000mAh battery with 80W fast charging speed.

Which one to buy?

All three flagships have a unique set of features to offer, be it in terms of display, camera features, or in-house UI. However, the question comes down if it is worth picking any of these devices if one is to compare their package with the pricing. While the Galaxy S22 Plus appears like an incremental upgrade, the sharp display and camera improvements direct to a sure-shot buy. However, if the S22 seems overpriced, you can opt for Vivo’s iQOO 9 Pro which delivers top-notch hardware at an affordable price. For those looking for a device with long-term software upgrades, solid build quality, and oodles of RAM at a decent price, then OnePlus 10 Pro won’t let you down.
