OnePlus has collaborated with McLaren for a special edition OnePlus 6T.
It comes with a special design inspired by McLaren's supercars.
It boasts 10GB RAM, and a new Warp Charge 30 tech.
It is somewhat of a tradition for OnePlus to launch a special edition of its flagship device. In the last couple of years, it has launched the Star Wars Limited Edition and Marvel Avengers Limited Edition editions, and now it is time for one more. Today, the company has taken the wraps off the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition in the UK. Ahead of the India launch scheduled tomorrow, here are my first impressions of this OnePlus 6T special edition. Whether you are a fan of supercars or an F1 fanatic, you will be well-versed with McLaren s history. The British car manufacturer is known for its high-performance cars, and unique design – especially its use of Papaya Orange. The moment I got my hands on the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition, the first thing I wanted to see was how OnePlus had incorporated the color. I m happy to say that the color is there, and I was also impressed with how it has been used. Instead of the device itself being Papaya Orange (which would have looked gaudy), the device looks like it has been carved out of a McLaren car. The glass back sports a carbon fiber texture underneath that is similar to what you see on supercars. The bottom edges sport a streak of orange that races up and fades into the black. Even the McLaren logo at the bottom has a holographic effect to it that gives a sense of speed.
The OnePlus 6T is already a powerful device in every sense, but the McLaren Edition takes a step up courtesy of the 10GB RAM under the hood. Along with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, this device should be capable of handling any and everything thrown at it with ease. In my short time with the device, there was not the slightest hint of lag or stutter.
The sense of speed isn t however limited to the design and under the hood performance. The OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition also comes with support for Warp Charge 30 technology. With this tech, the 3,700mAh battery powering the smartphone can be charged to 50 percent in just 20 minutes.

Much of what you get on the McLaren Edition is the same as the standard OnePlus 6T variant. That said, there are a couple of impressive upgrades that should keep buyers interested. Besides the device itself, the box itself is an experience in itself that gives you a short glimpse at the rich history of McLaren.
What will really set a fan s heart thumping is the McLaren s Speedmark logo in the box that has been recreated using AA grade carbon fiber (the same that is used in the McLaren MCL33 2018 Formula 1 car).
Needless to say, all this comes at a cost, and the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition has been launched in the UK with a price tag of 649 (approximately Rs 58,800). It will be interesting to see at what price the special edition launches in India tomorrow. It also remains to be seen how the company manages to entice buyers to spend the extra bucks on the McLaren Edition.
