Wearable fitness devices maker GOQii today said it has raised $13.4 million from investors including New Enterprise Associates and Cheetah Mobile. The Series A funding also saw participation from Great Wall Club (GWC), DSG Consumer Partners, Ilkka Paananen (CEO & Co-founder of Finnish gaming startup Supercell) and angel investor Pravin Gandhi.
Exactly a year back, Vishal Gondal s GOQii launched its first smartband along with monthly plans starting from six months. A year on, the fitness band has got a bunch of new features, as well as a new three months plan.
Paytm CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma joins the list of angel investors that have invested an undisclosed sum into fitness startup GoQii. Economic Times reports that Sharma's funding takes the total amount invested in GoQii to about $2.8 million (Rs 17.7 crore).
Smart fitness band maker GOQii has raised funding from WhatsApp s Neeraj Arora, and Marco Argenti, VP Amazon Web Services - Mobile. The news was first reported by NextBigWhat and BGR India has confirmation. GOQii had been in an extensive pilot mode since February and launched commercially last week.
Vishal Gondal's GOQii smartband is finally available to buy with subscriptions starting from Rs 6,999 for six months and Rs 11,999 for a year (taxes extra). Unlike other hardware-only smartbands, GOQii claims it is different by providing personal coaching and guidance rather than just providing a hardware for tracking activity.
Smartbands and activity trackers are all the rage these days but today a new brand has entered the space that promises to change the industry. GOQii, founded by Vishal Gondal (who earlier founded Indiagames that was acquired by Disney), is a smartband that provides personal coaching along with tracking key activity measures. Like any other smartband, the GOQii (pronounced as go-key) tracks the steps you take, calories you burn, your total active period and sleeping patterns. The key differentiation between GOQii and other activity trackers is it allocates personal coaches to its users that interpret your data and suggest what you should do next.
