The Department of Telecom will issue next lot of demand notices to six telecom operators for under-reporting of revenues in around 10 circles in 2006-07 year this week. According to DoT sources, demand notice is likely to go to Bharti Hexacom for North East and Rajasthan circles, and to all other operators as well for the year 2006-07 for specific circles. The source, however, declined to quantify the exact amount it will entail.
Having extended talks with Aircel twice, Reliance Communications (RCom) on June 23 said it expects to announce the merger with the company "very shortly" after the signing of a "binding definitive" pact. "RCom and Maxis Communications Berhad (MCB) and Sindya Securities and Investments Pvt Ltd (Sindya), the shareholders of Aircel Ltd (Aircel), expect to sign binding definitive documentation and announce the proposed transaction for the combination of the Indian wireless business of RCom and Aircel very shortly," the company said in a BSE filing.
Department of Telecom has notified guidelines for liberalization of spectrum, allocated without auction to telecom companies, paying the way for Reliance Communications (RCom) to liberalize its airwaves in 4 circles. As per the guidelines, the most recent reserve price recommended by TRAI will be taken as provisional price for liberalization of administratively allocated spectrum with the balance being collected after deriving market rate through bidding.
Technology giant IBM has partnered Reliance Communications (RCom) to provide a complete portfolio of cloud services to customers. "...it is working with Reliance Communications to provide its customers with a complete portfolio of highly secure and scalable infrastructure as a service (IaaS) offerings running on the IBM cloud," IBM said in a statement today. RCom has a client base of over 115 million, including over 39,000 large enterprises and small and medium businesses (SMBs) across industries.
Reliance Communications (RCom) will soon shift its CDMA customers to 4G network. According to reports, RCom will be upgrading the network in phases starting May 4. It may be recalled that RCom and Reliance Jio had recently entered into a spectrum sharing pact that had triggered speculations about RCom s inevitable foray into the 4G segment.
The government's decision to bring policy changes on administratively allotted telecom spectrum is crucial for Reliance Jio and Reliance Communications's (RCOM) spectrum sharing arrangement in four key markets, Deutsche Bank Equity Research said on Thursday. Jio and RCOM have entered into a spectrum trading-cum-sharing deal across most markets which requires RCOM to liberalize its spectrum before sharing. However, there were four markets which did not have an auction-based price and hence the necessity of the policy decision, the global banking and financial services company report said.
Reliance Communications today said its shareholders have approved the proposal for merger of Sistema Shyam Teleservices with the company. "The Court Convened meeting of the members of the Company held on March 8, 2016 to consider and approve Scheme of Arrangement of Sistema Shyam TeleServices Limited with the Company (Scheme), the Members of the Company have duly approved the Scheme, voting by way of poll at the meeting and through e-voting," RCom said in a BSE filing.

The latest leaks by Edward Snowden has revealed that British intelligence agency General Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) hacked into two major undersea cables owned by Reliance Communications compromising millions of users sensitive information, including those from the Indian government.
