Lenovo has launched its premier ThinkPad laptop, the X1 Carbon, in India. The laptop is priced from Rs 1,21,000, and will be available through both online and offline retail channels starting this month. The laptop is the sixth-generation offering of the ThinkPad X1 Carbon line-up, and features updated specifications for 2018. The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon (6th Gen) was launched globally at CES 2018, and has made its way to the Indian market about three months later.
The ThinkPad X1 Carbon sticks to the formula that has made the ThinkPad line-up one of the most successful laptop brands in the world. While ThinkPad was originally an IBM brand, Lenovo’s acquisition of IBM’s personal computer division in 2005 brought the name under the Chinese company’s umbrella. Lenovo has since nurtured and taken forward the brand, which in 2017 completed 25 years.
In its sixth generation, the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon is the most expensive ThinkPad laptop available in the range. The laptop has a carbon fiber chassis for durability and lightness, along with a slim and compact profile. You get a 14-inch full-HD screen, Intel Core i7 vPro (8th Gen) processor, 16GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD storage. The laptop weighs a little over 1kg, making it extremely portable and easy to handle.
Charging is through the USB Type-C Thunderbolt enabled port, although you do also get a 65W brick-style power adapter with the laptop. There is a proprietary Lenovo port for the adapters which come with the laptop – one for ethernet connectivity and another for VGA – along with two USB-A ports, an HDMI port and a 3.5mm jack. The laptop also has a fingerprint sensor, dual-camera webcam and Lenovo’s iconic Trackpoint for mouse navigation.
The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon series is considered by many to be the world’s best business laptop, with a focus on productivity and efficiency. With top-end specifications aimed at ensuring top-notch business productivity, the laptop is among the best business laptops you can buy today. ThinkPad laptops are also known for their durability, and the ability to withstand damage and rough use. The carbon fiber chassis on the X1 Carbon will only improve durability, while keeping the laptop light enough for enhanced portability.
