The Samsung Gear Sport and Fit 2 Pro are the latest connected wearables from the South Korean electronics giant.
After debuting the Gear Sport and Gear Fit2 Pro wearables at IFA 2017 earlier this year, Samsung has today brought the wearables to the Indian shores. The Gear Sport is priced at Rs 22,990, whereas the Gear Fit2 Pro will set you back Rs 13,590.
These wearables will be available starting December 11 with prebookings kicking off on December 4. The Gear Sport will be available via Amazon India and Samsung’s stores, while the Gear Fit2 Pro will be available via Flipkart and Samsung’s stores. Buyers will be able to avail a bunch of EMI options from Bajaj Finserv and their own banks.
The previous wearables featured IP68 certification for water and dust resistance, which means they can be submerged under 1.5 meters water for up to 30 minutes. With the new wearables, Samsung has improved the water resistance capabilities up to 50 meters (5ATM). This means, you can not only use the wearables in the rain, but also take it for a swim. The wearables can also detect your fitness activities such as walking, running, cycling, dancing or playing basketball.
Similar to the Gear S3, the Gear Sport also features a smartwatch form factor. It comes with a 1.2-inch circular AMOLED display covered by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The display has a resolution of 360×360 pixels, and pixel density of 302ppi. Under the hood is a dual-core chipset clocked at 1GHz, paired with 768MB of RAM. There is 4GB of internal storage.
To keep things ticking, the fitness-focused smartwatch is armed with a 300mAh battery, which Samsung claims to offer battery life of up to three days. On the connectivity front, you get Wi-Fi, NFC, GPS and Bluetooth 4.2. It also comes with a gyroscope, barometer, heart rate sensor, and ambient light sensor. On the software front, the Gear Sport runs on Tizen OS and it is compatible with Android smartphones running JellyBean OS 4.3 and Apple iPhones running iOS 9 and above.
Successor to the Gear Fit2, the new fitness band comes with improved 50 meters (5ATM) water resistance capabilities. It also comes with a slightly larger Super AMOLED curved display of 1.5-inch, with a resolution of 216×432 pixels, and pixel density of 310ppi. Rest of the specifications of the Gear Fit2 Pro remain the same as its predecessor, the Gear Fit2.
The fitness band is powered by a dual-core chipset clocked at 1GHz, paired with 512MB of RAM. There is a 4GB of internal storage. With a 200mAh battery, connectivity options include Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi and GPS. On the software front, the fitness band runs on Tizen OS, and it is Apple iPhones and Android smartphones. In terms of sensors, the Gear Fit2 Pro features a heart rate sensor, gyroscope and barometer.
